Our Pastor – Allison O. Flaherty

Pastor Allison O. Flaherty

Pastor Allison O. Flaherty

Pastor Allison is a New England native, having grown up and raised her family in Vermont and now living in Maine.  Her children and grandchildren all live in central Vermont which draws her back there when time permits. She was a field sales executive in the telecommunications industry for many years before being called to ministry and finds many of the skills she learned in her secular career to be helpful in ministry.

She grew up Methodist, but has been a member of a UCC church for ten years. She was always active as a lay leader, serving as a deacon for many years and as a pastoral visitor for the past six years. Organizing and leading two women’s retreats, was a particularly enjoyable for her. She is a member of the Small Church Ministry Team of the Maine Conference UCC and active in two clergy groups.

Pastor Allison originally felt her call was to hospice/hospital chaplaincy, but shortly after beginning her field education, she realized that parish ministry really called to her. She is a 2014 graduate of Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts and a Member in Discernment of the Cumberland Association, Maine Conference, UCC where she is pursuing ordination.

Pastor Allison is currently an on call chaplain at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and volunteered at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for several years. In her free time she loves to garden, read, golf, ski, and spend time with friends.
